The building remains here supported a 100-volt dynamo driven by a horizontal, single-cylinder steam engine to its left. Water tanks above and to the left of this supplied water for the steam engines and for 'quenching' coke.

Below the dynamo, through the small arch door, which is still visible, was the miners’ meal room compete with a coal fire.
